This is my prefered method of finding the proper setting for the pilot screw (aka fuel screw). On a stock 400EX carb (and many others) I use a. The Honda F-2, F-3, & F-4 street bikes had D shaped screw heads also & the Dynojet jet kits. I'm starting to wonder.is the 152 main.to small.is there a 154.
Over time, a four wheeler is exposed to many types of weather as well as dust, dirt, and mud. Throughout many years, dirt and grit builds up inside a carburetor and causes the device to malfunction. When a carburetor stops working properly, the engine does not get the right amount of gas and air it needs to run properly.
As a result, a four wheeler ceases to start when it is cranked.Fortunately, however, relatively inexpensive carburetor repair kits can be ordered online so that individuals can fix the carburetor themselves. Repairing a carburetor involves three main steps: loosening and taking the carburetor out of the four wheeler, taking the carburetor apart to clean it and replace the worn-out parts (which are included in the kit), and, finally, reassembling the carburetor before mounting it back on the four wheeler. In this repair guide, we will first show you how to disconnect and remove the carburetor from the four wheeler, and then we will show you how to thoroughly clean and replace its worn-out parts.
Have you checked the main fuse located next to the starting solonid. Look at that solinoid and see if there’s a fuse right next to it under a rubber cap.
Make sure you’ve gone through every fuse and connection. Try to wiggle the key while it’s in the ignition and see if anything happens. Sometimes it’s a bad ignition switch. Checking the power to the switch is a good idea like mentions. If you don’t have power after all of that the you have to start looking at safety switches like the neutral safety switch and the kill switch etc. Steven, first thing I would suggest is getting the starting issue done first.
You have to get 12vdc to the key switch. That 12vdc comes from the battery to the solenoid. Then through the solenoid usually via a connector through the wiring to the key switch, Then when you turn on the key switch on. it sends that 12 vdc every where else it needs to go. So check the key switch for 12vdc. If you don't have it there go back to the solenoid and check both sides of your fuses. Check you battery ground too.I'm not looking at a wiring diagram for your fourtrax other wise I could give you the wire colors.Bottom line no power to the key switch nothing else will work.
Get it to crank first then look at the carb/ fuel issue. Hi guys I have a 2003 Arctic 250 4X4 it starts idles and runs great for about 10 min. Then it spits and sputters and dies but it starts right up like nothing happened idles good till you give gas and it does it again let off the gas and it's idling great again this goes on for about 15 to 20 min. And then it takes off runs good all day like nothing was wrong.I cleaned the carburetor it looked like a new one inside found a little gunk in one orifice, new air filter no crimped lines air line to tank good I did put a meter on the battery idling it said 16.5 V that's high I think would a voltage regulator cause this?Suzuki shop wanted to sale me a stator for $556.00 but said it could be something else also thought I'd see what you guys say about itThanks. First post, hope you can help. As above 1991 Honda fourtrax. Starting, running fine until a few weeks ago.

Used primarily to put my ski boat in the garage (put 2' ball on front). Any way, had just backed boat into garage, turned off to crank trailer wheel down, when I went to restart got nothing. No neutral light, no headlights, no reverse light, would not turn over when start button pushed.

It would crank and run when I jumped the contacts on the start relay. While running the neutral light will come on, although it is dim and flickers. Reverse light on when running and in reverse. What I have done to this point:1.
Used jumper cable to ground battery (-) terminal to engine block thinking ground wire from battery to engine may be bad. No neutral light, no start.2. Applied 12 volts to start relay. Got a loud click like it was making contact. I didn't have the battery/starter cables connected to the relay, but I am assuming it would have cranked at that time.3.
Disconnected neutral switch wire. Grounded neutral switch wire with jumper wire. No neutral light, no electric start. At this point I am thinking ignition switch vs broken wire in the harness going to the neutral switch (due to dimness and flickering when running).Any and all suggestions to help track down this issue are appreciated.Thanks. The title pretty much explains it all. When using the starter I can hear it spinning but not engaging the engine. The wheels also do not engage with the wheels when the clutch is out. The motor has compression if that helps.I am new to engine work and repair and I bought this quad with the idea of fixing it up (not knowing the full extent of the damage).
The previous owner said it ran but sat for a year (I don’t believe that for a second after opening it up) and had bought a few new plugs and a starter motor, none of which fixed the issue.Any help would be greatly appreciated!I have attached a few pics of what I think could be wrong. Hello everyone, i have 2000 Polaris Trail Blazer 300 I’ve been stumped on for weeks. I’m having a lot of issues starting the quad. I cleaned the carb spotless because I thought it was a carb issue and bought a new fuel line because it wasn’t getting fuel. The carb gets fuel perfectly fine now but it won’t start. The spark plug I a little worn out but it’s good enough for just one start. The only time it does “start” is when I spray starter fluid into the carb.
But it never stays on. It’ll start for a bout a second then just die out immediately even if you’re giving it some throttle and the choke is on. I have no clue what I should do. If you need more information, have questions, or have any slight idea what the issue would be and how I could resolve it.
Please reply ASAP. I have a 1988 300 Honda FourTrax, All wheel drive. My brother and I were fixing up this quad. We put a brand new battery and fuses in and it was running fine until we put the quad into reverse. As soon as it was put into reverse all of the electrical cut out and power wasn't making it to the head unit anymore and both of the brand new fuses popped. We figured there might have been a short from the starter or solenoids, but they are all working properly. At this point we don't know where to start looking for where the short could be. I'm just wondering if anybody has had the same issue or knows of similar issues that could cause these electrical shorts?.Recently Browsing0 members.
